Devotions: Humor And Friendship Building Times In Your Family

The joys and sorrows of life are often tied to relationship. Broken marriages and sibling rivalry bring sorrow; good marriages and sibling’s relationship bring joy.

Daily family devotional times are friendship building times. During this time humor and quality friendship are established in your family.

We seek through those family-oriented Bible study times to help our children and ourselves cultivate a friendship with the lord.

If your family is at peace with God through Jesus Christ your family will walk with God in a loving relationship. Your family will cultivate this habit through Bible reading and prayer, a joyous personal relationship with him and that is the stuff from which other friendships are made.

We seek also to cultivate best friend relationship among family members – husband – wife, parent-child, child – child.

Friendship is key, in happy marriages; husband and wives are good friends. Siblings grow up as buddies.

Humor and Devotion – Is there a time to Laugh?

The guidelines for humor in devotions should be much the same as in any other facet of life. You have to know that without friendship in your family, humor does not exist.

After all, daily family devotions are not merely brief times for talking in a more pious tone. They are an extension of how we live or how we should live – all the time

Here Are Some Guidelines For A Friendly And Happy Family

  1. Never laugh at someone, belittling that person. Making fun of a person is never funny.
  2. Go ahead and laugh when others say something funny or point out of funny circumstances or a strange event in nature. Most people enjoy making others laugh.
  3. If it’s inappropriate outside of devotional time, it’s inappropriate during a daily family devotional time.

Learning to laugh is part of the joy and delight of life, especially that of a Christian. It certainly is part of the delight that is so essential in devotions. The Bible says that “a broken spirit makes one sick” but a cheerful spirit does good like a medicine.

How Do I Deal With Conflict between Kids

When children play together, conflicts erupt over territory and rights. Parents, be careful to listen to all sides before deciding who is right and who is wrong, who did what to whom, and whether there should be any corrective action. And as you listen, consider each child’s temperament and past behavior. The account from a child who exaggerates should be considered differently from the account of a child who blames himself or herself. Unjust discipline fosters resentment. Take time to listen to all sides when you help children resolve disputes.
